How access works

  1. Roles describe a job — Flight Operations Officer, Air Crew, Stores Clerk. A role gives each menu a level: None View Edit.
  2. Modules follow from menus. A user sees a module — on the home page, in the sidebar and on the Global Dashboard — only if one of their roles gives at least View on a menu in it.
  3. Users get one or more roles. Where roles overlap, the higher level wins.
  4. View opens the screen with the add, edit, approve and delete controls removed. Edit allows changes. The server checks every request too, so hiding a button is never the only protection.
  5. The Administrator role has Edit on everything, including menus added in future builds, and can't be changed. There is always at least one active administrator.

Roles & Access

Flight & Component Life Log

Crew flight logging for tracking accumulated hours & cycles against life-limited parts (LLPs). Backed by SQL Server Express — every crew member sees the same live records.

Log a scheduled flight — —

Only scheduled, authorised flights can be logged — legs scheduled from an approved requisition, or formation legs. Choose one and its schedule fills in; enter Block Out and Block In (and takeoff / landing if known).
Add the next leg (hop) of an authorised flight — for example day two of a task. Flight number and call sign carry over; it's planned first and logged like any other leg.
Tail sign is the aircraft — it comes from the tail selected above and never changes. Call sign is what ATC hears on this flight: leave blank to use the registration without the hyphen, or enter an operator / mission call sign.

Manage life-limited parts for this aircraft
Component total = hours/cycles logged on this tail since the install date, plus any hours/cycles already on the part at install (for parts moved from another aircraft). Limits are placeholders — enter the actual OEM-published retirement life for each part.
This is a working prototype for a POC. It is not a certified continuing-airworthiness record-keeping system — treat entries as planning data until validated against the aircraft's official maintenance records.

Formations

Fly-pasts, displays and formation training. Each aircraft logs its own leg in the Flight Log (own times, hours, landings, crew); the formation holds the event, call sign, shared plan and time over target (TOT).
DateEventCall signAircraftPlanned TOTActual TOTStatus

Member pilots are checked against the Air Crew register for the event date: licence, medical, AW139 type rating, proficiency check and Formation Flying. TOT tolerance for "on time" is a placeholder (±10 s).

Passenger Manifests

One manifest per trip. Each passenger boards on a leg and gets off at a stop, so a multi-hop trip shows who is on board every leg. The aircraft's registered seats cap each leg. Open a trip to add, edit, remove or print.

Flight Requisitions RESTRICTED

Aircraft Flight Requisition and Approval. Part A is the request from the ministry, department or agency; Part B is the director's decision. Each requisition is for either fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters — raise separate requisitions if both are needed.

Airfields

Kenyan airports, airstrips, bush strips and heliports for flight planning: codes, elevation, location, runways, fuel, hours and the latest condition report. Locations, codes, elevations and runways are from the open OurAirports data set — always check the Kenya AIP and NOTAMs before flight.

Flight Schedules

Approved upcoming flights: every leg still to fly from trips scheduled against an approved requisition, day by day, with the checks to clear before departure — crew currency, aircraft status and grounding jobs, and airfield condition.

Saved Routes

Frequent routes, set up once and picked when planning — in the requisition route plan, the Flight Log's multi-hop planner and the requisition's routing. Pick a route and a departure time and every stop's arrival and departure is filled in. Stops are linked to the Airfields register for distance and condition.

Book Resources

Reserve a hangar bay, a tool, an item of equipment or a member of the maintenance crew for a time window. Bays hold one aircraft at a time; tools and equipment show how many identical units are free; a person can't be booked twice at once or while on leave.

Service Bay Register

Hangar bays, shelters, apron spots and helipads: the aircraft each supports (helicopters, fixed wing or both), dimensions, door, floor limit, lifting capacity, power and fixed equipment. A bay can't be booked for an aircraft of a category it doesn't support, or while it's out of service. The fit check compares each bay to the AW139 envelope (16.66 m long with rotors turning, 13.80 m rotor, 4.98 m high, MTOW 6,800 kg).
